Reconditioned "Like New" Pods

It is rare to see a 928 with any amount of miles that does not have a cracked pod.  The alternatives:

  1. Use a Dash Cap and have a seam or have the cap bubble and separate - about $100
  2. Buy used and take a chance that the pod will not crack soon - about $250
  3. Go to Just Dashes for a new injection molded pod - about $550
  4. Buy a new one - $???

Terms and Conditions: Our reconditioned pods go through eight steps, can be color matched and carry a one year pro-rated guarantee. $250.00 exchange for black- plus $25 shipping and handling.  Custom color matching is an additional $50 and requires a sample or better the core pod.  We provide an exchange program with a $50 refundable core charge. Pods are done in batches. If I have the right one in stock it can usually ship within 24 hours for standard colors. Otherwise turnaround time can run from a two to six weeks as batches are completed. Check availability before placing an order.

Good Core: The old Pod has to be repairable, which is solely determined by myself. Mostly that means the surface cannot be so sunburned as to be falling off or the core material separating from the base metal. There can be no big chucks missing from the core pod.  We buy extra core pods for $25 and can give a discount on orders with more than one core.  1985 and newer pods are preferable.  I need cores for the late model air bag cars - 90 and newer.

Leather Pods:  I have a limited capability to provide leather covered pods.  Contact me for price, color and availablity.

Reconditioning Process

First the pod is deep cleaned to remove silicon, dirt and other finishes.

The Pod is inspected for damage from removal and loose material re-bonded.

Next the cracks and sun burnt material are removed to relieve stress and provide a surface for our proprietary patching process.

The cracks are filled and smoothed to match the surface and a coat of flexible primer is applied to the repaired areas.

The primer is smoothed and any remaining defects and nicks are filled.

The surface is then grained to match as close as possible the factory finish.

Finally the pod is dyed the correct color to match.  Black is standard and additional colors are available on request.  Some of the Porsche colors are available as standard colors.  If the color is custom it can be matched at a additional cost.

Care and Cleaning.

The reconditioned pods can be cleaned with vinyl cleaner or just mild soap and water.  The use of Armorall is not recommended and with other vinyl products will void our warranty.  The best protection for your new  pod is covering it with a towel when exposed to intense sun light.  Abrasives should never be used and will ruin the surface and void the warranty.  Cleaning is best done with a mild soap and water. The dye is alcohol based and solvents will damage it.
